Winter 2013 collection

Just in time for the holidays, I am super excited to unveil some new work in my shop.

Drumroll please...

1) 2014 Calendar (Limited Edition)

This calendar is the culmination of a year-long lettering project called 12 in '13 for '14. This project grew out of my growing passion for hand-lettering and sign-painting, as well as a love for documenting the creative process from beginning to end. More details on the project's inception here. For the main titles, I hand-lettered a dozen header options each month with a Pentel brush pen, and then posted them on my blog for public voting. After curating the selects, I rendered the final titles in Illustrator and incorporated them into the layouts. To complete the calendar, I hand-lettered a supplementary set of numerals and capitals for the week titles. These were also refined in Illustrator, compiled in FontLab, and then typeset into the final calendar layouts.

These 6" x 6" calendars, limited edition of 20, are screen printed by hand in Toronto with water-based inks on 245gsm pure white 100% cotton archival paper. They are hand-trimmed and include a personalized, hand-lettered, numbered & editioned cover sheet. The calendar is bound with an elegant chrome bulldog clip, perfect for mounting in your home or office.

8) Rouleau Numerals

This set of numerals (0-9) was created as part of my 12 in '13 for '14 calendar lettering project, and used as the primary typeface on my 2014 calendar. Each digit was hand-lettered with Pentel brush pens, refined in Illustrator, and compiled in FontLab.

9) Origami Alphabet (Limited Edition)

In May 2013, Razorblade Origami Alphabet was selected to participate in Creative Type Five, an annual curated exhibition of typographic artwork from Toronto illustrators, artists and graphic designers. A full post on the exhibit here.

Through the methods of incision and paper folding, this sculptural alphabet explores the underlying form and structure of letters, based on their geometry and inherent lines of symmetry. Check out some process work here.

I have decided to create two limited edition, 9" x 9" framed versions of Razorblade Origami Alphabet. Each piece takes approximately 8 hours to craft by hand. Due to the artwork's delicate nature, please contact me before purchase to discuss special shipping options to your city.

Thanks again to Bianca, Mike, Stephanie, Jordy and everyone at Kid Icarus who helped make the calendar and holiday cards come to life in the last couple months.
