Food's greatest stage
Today marks the grand opening of the new Toronto Loblaws, located in the historic Maple Leaf Gardens. I wouldn't normally blog about a grocery store opening, but I am totally in love with the art deco-inspired renderings I have seen on billboards, the new website, as well as window signage on the outside of the new store. The style is perfectly in line with the building itself (which broke ground in 1931) and other era buildings on the block, including the Hydro Toronto building and College Park.
BlogTO also reports that the builders have also revived the original 1950s lettering for the marquee. This makes me very, very happy.
