Type Con 2017

I am ecstatic to announce that I will be attending TypeCon for the first time next month in Boston. And to make this even more dream-like, I will have a table at the Marketplace, where I will be offering limited edition art, live lettering demonstrations, and I will be signing copies of my new ABC250 book, which I'll be picking up from Coach House Books in the next couple weeks. Pinch me!

I look forward to seeing all of you there.

The glass is half full

In an effort to beautify their laneway and dissuade graffiti, two homeowners asked me to create this mural. With the help of the StART program, it all came together this week. Feel free to stop by and check it out behind 114 Claremont, between Queen and Dundas. Thanks to my friend Peter for capturing this great video!

"The glass is half full" is also available as a special edition SIGG aluminum water bottle. Available in black or blue on my shop.

Toronto the Great

TO. The 6ix. T-Dot. Toronto the Great.

The project acts as a contemporary extension of the nickname, Toronto the Good, popularized by former city mayor, William Howland, in 1886. The phrase originally referred to the city’s propensity toward strict Victorian values; Howland himself was anti-vice, anti-gambling, anti-liquor” (Toronto Star). Christopher’s neologism, like the work itself, seeks to imbue the past with new
energy and optimism. Toronto the Great juxtaposes historical public domain photographs and illustrations from the Toronto Archives with Christopher’s original hand lettering.
